Multiple men were found guilty Monday relating to the 2016 shooting and killing of Trinity Gay, the daughter of U.S. Olympian Tyson Gay.Trinity Gay was shot in the neck on Oct. 16, 2016, during a gunfight at the Cook Out restaurant in Lexington. She was 15. On Monday, a jury found Chazerae Me'Lon Taylor Sr., 40, guilty of wanton murder and four counts of first-degree wanton endangerment.The jury also found 21-year-old D'Markeo Taylor, his son, guilty of first-degree wanton endangerment; D'Vonta Middlebrooks, 23, guilty of one count of wanton endangerment; and Lamonte Williams, 23, guilty of five counts of first-degree wanton endangerment, the Lexington Herald-Leader reported. According to the Herald-Leader, the wanton-endangerment convictions are related to putting four young people — who were in or near the car where Gay was shot — at risk of death or serious physical injury. “I just hope something positive comes out of this situation,” Tyson Gay told the Herald-Leader. “I really believe our prosecutors did a great job ... I'm proud that my daughter got some justice."While prosecutors could not definitively say who fired the .45 caliber bullet that killed Trinity Gay, witnesses said during the trial that Taylor was the first person to fire a gun at the scene, which caused a chain reaction leading to her death, the Herald-Leader reported.Her father, Tyson Gay, is a five-time USA Track and Field Champion. trinity Gay attended Lafayette High in Lexington, the same high school her father attended before he competed in the Summer Olympics three times. Sentencing is scheduled for 9 a.m. Tuesday.
